CARL B. ORR was born on September 18, 1950 in Ridgeland, (Jasper County), S.C. to the late Mr. and Mrs. Clifford and Frances Orr. Carl completed the 11th grade at Sol C. Johnston High School in Savannah, Ga.
Carl was affectionately known as “Cal”. Cal had various jobs before becoming disabled.
Cal loved his independence. He loved to get out and walk and meet people. He enjoyed giving to others, helping in any way possible, whether it was money, clothes, or shoes. Although it wasn’t much, he shared what he had with others. If he needed to he would take the shirt off his back and give it to someone, literally. He was gentle and loving to everyone. He was looking forward to seeing his great-granddaughters and his grandsons, whom he loved so much!
Near the end of his life, Cal asked Jesus to forgive him for his sins and accepted Jesus into his heart. He loved having scriptures read to him, and he would listen with such attentiveness, like he was absorbing every word.
He departed this life on Friday, May 27, 2016 at the New Roc Rehab & Nursing Center after a short illness. He is preceded in death by; his brothers: Harold, Henry, and Hurbert; and his sisters: Louise, Edna, and Isabel.
He leaves to cherish his memories; 1 daughter, Anika Futch Orr of NYC; 5 grandsons: Seville Jenkins, Robert Futch, Davion Corbett, Donyai Corbett, and David Corbett; 2 great- granddaughters: Sinaii Futch and Kaydence Futch; 3 sisters: Ms. Rose Mary Brown and Ms. Jennette Orr of Rochester, NY, and Ms. Annette Orr of Madison, WI; 3 brothers: James W. (Sarah) Orr, Wallace Orr and Robert Orr all of Rochester, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
